Weekly Report from the Board Meeting at Holman 1.7.15

Weekly Report from the Board Meeting at Holman Prison, 1.7.2015.

We were delighted by the good news from the Federal Court that the stay issued to Tommy Arthur in March of 2012 remains in effect! As we are not attorneys it is not our place to comment further on this except to say that we appreciate this very much and that we will be following developments very closely.

Needless to say we are well aware that this is not the time to relax and to be lulled into inaction. We remain ready with a call to action to the Governor for either Tommy Arthur, should the stay be lifted and for Billy Kuenzel.

A lot of work continues to be done by Advisory Board members to bring attention to our petition which now stands at 294. Media lists have been compiled and the media blitz by Louis Richard continues. It is certainly heartening for us to see how some of our friends and supporters never rest, not even over the holidays. One such example is our Swiss friend and supporter, member of Lifespark, Claudia Tramer who wrote the most amazing detailed follow up to the Pharmaceutical Swiss company Roche. Roche was the company which first made Midazolam and although compounding pharmacies are responsible for selling the drug to execution states, Claudia Tramer is asking Roche to take a stand on the misuse of the drug. Claudia Tramer has a strong medical background and therefore understands firsthand the use of this drug as a sedative and not as an anesthetic.

And meanwhile here in Alabama one of our supporters will be meeting with Bishop Sloan of the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama to speak to him about the death penalty in our state, scheduled executions and our petition. We could not ask for a more competent and dedicated representative for our issue!

We would also once more like to give a shout out to our friends at the Southeast Alabama Gazette. Thank you for publishing our Execution Alert and Talking Points for letters to the Governor!

We are continuing to ask friends and supporters to sign our petition and are using the link on the petition to contact friends one by one. It seems to work but we still have a long way to go before we reach our goal request. See you next week!
