Weekly Report from the Board Meeting at Holman Prison 7.12.17

On  June 23rd the Alabama Attorney General’s office requested execution dates for Torrey Twane McNabb, Jeffrey Lynn Borden and Doyle Lee Hamm. This in spite of botched recent executions in this state and a total lack of transparency of how or where the execution drugs were purchased and their expiration date.

Furthermore, Christine Freeman, an attorney for Borden and McNabb, stated in an Anniston Star interview that she doesn’t think the timing of the state’s filing is appropriate. “Both of these men have ongoing litigation,” she said.

Alabama is among six states so far this year that have executed death row inmates, according to a review released Monday by the Death Penalty Information Center.

We were honored to attend the event “ We Will Celebrate the Life and Legacy of Rev. Dr. Richard Boone” who was a freedom fighter and who will always be a Civil Rights Icon. The event was well attended and we were honored to be able to read the Thank You card of appreciation from our Board on death row. Mrs. Mary Boone was touched by our message and promised her continued support of what we do. We thank Advisory Board Member Judy Collins for the great job she did handing out our material, manning our table and generally being the Other Voice. Her presence made all the difference.
 See you next week!
