Weekly Report from the Board Meeting at Holman Prison 9.4.19
The letter to Cardinal DiNardo, mentioned last week, went out with 24 additional signatures, including one by a minister who was visiting and who asked to sign on. Included with the letter was information about our organization. We are planning on contacting other faith leaders asking for their support to help abolish the death penalty.
Our latest and very exciting edition of Wings of Hope is now at the printers. We can’t wait for you to read it and get some insight into all we do at Holman!
We also completed and mailed the posters highlighting innocence in Alabama to Dr. Katie Owens-Murphy for her upcoming interactive exhibition at the UNA library and other libraries in the area. Having been fortunate enough to see a preview I know that this is a must see for anyone interested in the death penalty in Alabama. Wonderful that it will also be used as a learning tool for our youth!
We would like to remind our friends and supporters that the Alabama Arise 2019 Annual Meeting at which the 2020 priority issues are chosen will this Saturday, September 7th from 9:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church,6610 Vaughn Road, Montgomery, AL. Please come and vote and show your appreciation to the Federal Defenders of the Middle District of Alabama who will be presenting our issue.
We continue to thank anonymous donors who gave by going to our website and using the “donate” button and of course also those who gave directly. We thank all who believe in what we do and stand with us. You make a difference!
